It’s needless to say anything about the Wombats. Who doesn’t know who the Wombats are by now? Their gig at the Lido in October was sold out so this one was moved to a bigger venue immediately.
What I like most about the Wombats is that they aren’t another Joy Division copycat band but that they wrote a sarcastic song about the whole Joy Division revival (‘Let’s dance to joy division an celebrate the irony that everything’s going wrong but we’re so happy’).
Yes, the Wombats are different and that’s probably why they’re so big by now. They’re one of those bands that make you wish you’d known them when they played in front of no more than 50 people.
Their new album will be out April 29th. For that they Wombats have a competition up on their official website, a game called the Wombatizer. You can win a roundtrip to Barcelona for the band’s concert at the Sala Apolo on May 21th.
The Wombats will be supported by the amazing the Good Natured who will also play a solo show at the Privatclub on April 19th.
