UPDATE: Moved to Astra Kulturhaus!
Poster kids, flagship act, stalwarts of the scene, these and other inane music journalism cliches can be used to describe the relationship of Vampire Weekend to the New York twee pop hipster music wave that we are right now enjoying. Not wanting to shove them in a box or anything (but you have to recognise that we are in the middle of a wave right now, and these guys are pretty much the leaders of that procession), this show is actually going to be be quite awesome I expect, they are a band that you’ll be telling people in ten years that you saw once in Berlin, they are a very fashionable bunch and you will be heading to the mall the day after trying to buy your boyfriend or yourself a shirt just like the singer had the night before. I’m not telling you to do these things, I’m not some scary indie puppeteer, I just know that you will, is all.
Watch as they, through the power of music, make you want to dress like an aristocrat of the French bourgeoisie, somehow making a life spent clad in brocaded silk and buckle shoes sound fun and glamourous…
Their power is unstoppable. You’ve already bought the wig on amazon. You’re learning how to properly curtsy and bow when in the presence of fellow french royalty. You’re doing all this to the sound of the Contra.
Shine on you crazy diamond!
