One of my favourite bands to date hail from Munich of all places. My first encounter with the band was back at the old Magnet Club about 2 years ago and I’ve tracked them ever since, having been to all of their shows in Berlin. I was and I still am particularly captivated by the vocal range of singer Mario Clement. This Is The Arrival have rekindled my faith in German Indie. Here’s a free download of Stella.
In 2010 This Is The Arrival released their critically acclaimed selft-titled album on Dienje Music. Their songs are sometimes danceable and sometimes melancholic. A perfect mix if you ask me. The reason why they work so well together as a band must be because these guys are actually friends who love to play music together.
This Is The Arrival have a lot of plans for 2012. I’m eager for their sophomore album A Million Kicks which will be released on February 10th. A new fantastic tune from the album is featured in this clip from the tour documentary A Million Klicks which was shot by filmmaker Johannes Brugger.
The band will be joined by label mates Hello Gravity.
