They’ve always been a band that’s easy to like, what with them having the whole post-punk indie dance thing completely nailed. The Rapture are definitely a band that came around at the right time, riding a wave of post-punk revival and it needs more cowbell hysteria. But lots of cowbell pretty much does always sound amazing.
The newer stuff is a little bit off the mark, How Deep Is Your Love followed to an extent the failed path that Foals tried to tread (although the Rapture’s attempt was still easily better) but none of that matters, since live they’re one of the best party bands ever. Ever.
