SOLD OUT!
ADDITIONAL SHOW on May 8th in Huxley’s Neue Welt also SOLD OUT!
Special Guests: Buke & GASS
The National played in Berlin at the Maschinenhaus exactly five years ago to a small but enthusiastic crowd of very lucky fans who must have thought the same, namely that these guys were a special kind of band. “Alligator” had just come out and various brit-pop bands were the toast of the times. Well, haven’t times changed then. The music buying public seems to have grown some musical-taste-buds and started getting into decent bands. Hard to put your finger on it but something about their live performances remain with you for a long time and it’s exactly this which has made them one of the word of mouth success stories of recent years. No moaning rock-star bullshit to be found here, just solid records. Their 2005 album “Alligator” still sounds fresh while 2007′s “Boxer” was so good I thought it was rubbish for the first 2 months after I heard it first!Coming back to Europe for only 5 exclusive dates, the teases that they are, this handsome group of americans quickly sold out all shows before you could get the rest of your toast into your mouth. Nuff said. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticketthe bigger but not too big Astra is a perfect setting, just like Huxleys. Oh, and the new album “High Violet” isn’t that good. 😉
