The Hands Of The Wrong People do a very respectable imitation of Do Make Say Think on You’re Not Singing Anymore below, it’s all put together very well and should make an interesting live show. The rest of their recent album Proportions however, hints at better things to come in the future, particularly the poppy Bingo below and rock-anthemesque Slack, nice stuff.
originating from Belgium, Germany and Scotland and based in Berlin, Germany since 2004. They have released 2 full length albums ‘Spring Flakes’ (2008) and ‘Proportions’ (2011) on Portland (Maine, USA) based independent label, Peapod Recordings.
La Batterie are a quiet lot most of the time but when they do something it’s worth paying attention. Although they almost never play live, they’ve just released their third album, not bad for a part-time band.
With this, La Batterie’s third album, despite availing themselves of pop music’s instruments and structures, they once again diverge from classical songwriting and successfully eludecategorisation in any particular genre. La Batterie write songs with the understanding that melancholy can only be opposed with ideas. That the struggle of this process remains audible and is flaunted with relish, accounts in some small measure for the allure and special charm of La Batterie.
