Yes, I know, I know, that’s not The Felice Brothers but he is the real reason you should be going to this show.
I saw AA Bondy open up for Bill Callahan a couple of years ago in Lido on a really hot night and only caught the last three songs but it was enough, I was hooked. His latest album Believers is a stark yet warm listening experience, it’s hopeful and rich, the floaty feel of the guitars give it space to breathe and somehow invoke big, black, starry night skies…the kind of skies that make you smile not shiver. Maybe it’s just the cover of the record that makes me think that. Either way Bondy has released three excellent records over the past four years, the second, When The Devil’s Loose, is a powerful slice of americana/folk-rock which already hinted at a looser feel creeping into the compositions. Believers is his third album and easily Bondy’s best record to date.
Right, I’m off to collect my vinyl copy of Believers right now…it’s taken an age to appear in the shops here.
AA Bondy takes the stage at 8pm sharp or 20:00h if you prefer.

Here’s The Twist and Surfer King live, sorry about the narrow screens but these were the best sounding ones:
The Felice Brothers need no introduction to many of you. Powerful alt-country rock, it’s a lively show they put on, at least it was at Lido in autumn last year I think it was. Their violin/fiddle player stole the show that night when he took the microphone and sang two songs and played lead guitar aswell. This band is bursting with talent, each album getting stronger and more adventurous even if at times that very adventurousness threatens to take away from the enjoyment of their records. You’ll love it, you’ll be high as a kite after AA Bondy anyway, nothing’s going to stop this show being other than fun.
