After 20 years in the business the Ark have decided to call it quits… for now. Even though the band has been around since 1991 mainstream success didn’t start until 2002 when they released their second full length In lust we trust. At that time, the Ark and The Darkness, whom the darkness have recently collaborated with, brought about a (however brief) glam-rock revival.
Some of you might remember their first hit Calleth you, cometh I. Back in the day I was intrigued by the idea to use fake biblical language as a song title and call the band the Ark. That’s probably why I decided to stay on mTV and listen to the song in the first place.
Just as expected of a proper glam-rock band, some of their lyrics are controversial. Father of a son for instance is about gay adoption rights (or the lack of them, for that matter).
I could go on for hours and post all of their songs here but I have a better idea. Let’s go get nostalgic and go to their show tonight!
