Strange Forces debut full length, I’d Rather Listen To The Bloody Birds, is a typical slice of what we had come to expect from these Australian boys, the finest psych-rock band Berlin has to offer. Having spent some time back down under earlier this year, they’ve returned and finished off this long awaited record. After touring Europe last year and finishing with three dates in support of Mogwai on the German leg of their tour, it’ll be great to see these boys back in full flow after a long break from Berlin’s venues.
Here’s a link to one you can downlaod and stick on your portable listening machine for those golden autumn days on yer bike, it’s called This Universal Software Ocean:
The History Of Colour TV celebrate the release of their debut album today, Emerald Cures Chic Ills. Officially to be released on January 28th, hopefully some of the vinyl will already be available at the show. It’ll be limited run of 100 pieces so you might want to get in there and pre-order.
Here’s album opener Let’s Get Sick, best album opener since The Cure’s Disintegration and Suddenlines, both classic, epic, shoegaze anthems:
The History Of Colour TV are without a doubt best shoegaze band in Berlin. Having now added Marcus, aka Theo Rahkun, aka that beast of a drummer behind I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream and Skiing, The History Of…have replaced the drum machine with possibly the best drummer in Berlin, all due respect to all the other good ones. This is going to be one to remember.
There’s Augustine Gasoline and co on the decks playing all the Rihanna, Madonna and Michael Jackson we could possibly need.
