Really there are a lot of scenes in Berlin that could use some documentation for the future. Punk, techno, bars, NeukAPlln in general and that would be just to name a few. Thanks though to the people of Modern Movement, the wave/minimal-synth crowd have had some of their ideas and style recorded for history with a beautifully bound photo book. 47 pages of high quality images captured by London photographer Tom Kavanagh accompanied by an 18 track mix-CD produced by Berlin label Aufnahme+Wiedergabe.
Launching this work, a party at Mindpirates in Kreuzberg featuring DJs:A Phillip Strobel + Ian P. Christ (Death # Disco / aufnahme + wiedergabe), Alex Plush Anders (Kleine Happen 80er / King Kong Klub), BLIX (Brave Exhibitions) and Robotmunk + Mullet (Less Than Zero). Playing live will be Berlin electro-pop act Sixth June and performing you’ll find Michelle Baard aka Kaddish. Visuals come fromA James E. Murphy who’s gaining more than just a little name for himself in such circles.
Entrance is 8ae, or 15ae, with the book+CD included. It’s also Jen Blix’s birthday, so buy her a vodka if you rub shoulders.
