Puschenfest part deux brings us Papa M, a living legend if I may be so bold. Having played in several influential bands from Slint to Tortoise to Royal Trux to Palace Music to a little known but excellent band called The For Carnation, David Pajo has left a trail of excellent albums in his wake.
My favourite of all his albums is Whatever, Mortal, released in 2001, if you haven’t heard it I suggest you do very soon. Pajo has released albums under the Papa M name, others coming under Pajo, and more under the original Aerial M moniker.
Recently he could be seen as a touring member of Interpol, although that particular stint only lasted eight months or so, ahem, I wonder why? Could it be that Interpol are a big pile of shit and Pajo was lowering his standards for a bit of cash only to realise that it’s better being a little short on cash than playing shit like Interpol? Aaaaah, I’ve been waiting to have a pop at Interpol for so long, that felt really good.
Anyway, my own personal satisfaction aside, here’s a couple of Papa M’s songs to remind you what great music is like:
