Virgianian skuzz lords Pontiak make it here to Berlin on the back of their new album Living, hitting little Jgerklause with a wall of, surprisingly pleasant, jammy noise rock.
With so many noise albums, they’re not the sort of thing that you can give an ear to regularly, the intensity and abrasiveness making it so that you’re scared off from listening to them as often as they artistically might deserve. Living gets away from that, comfortingly steady grooves along with a post rock sensibility combine to form a sound that you can listen to without neccesarily feeling asaulted. Listen carefully and you can feel auditorily attacked if you really want to, there is an element of that in there, but blunt force trauma to the ear canal isn’t for every occasion and really the material works on more levels than that and deserves more attention from the listener. Or something.
The gig’s going to be a loud one. Supports are yet to be announced but the venue’s great so get along even if it’s just on that basis.
