Dance gig of the year, Paul Van Dyk, Underworld and Armin Van Buuren together at O2 Arena here in Berlin, one night of pure techno rave madness.
It goes without saying that Paul Van Dyk is one of the world’s greatest and most enduring DJ superstars. 5 studio albums and uncounted remixes and compilation inclusions, he’s probably one of the very few international DJs of this musical period that people will still regard as important well into the future. Think about how many artists from the 50′s and 60′s people remember, then put Paul Van Dyk into the group that people hold 50 years from now, that’s what I’m talking about.
The lineup is sensational, Underworld are always insanely good, especially with their newest material which is kicking all sorts of arse, and Armin Van Buuren is all class -all the time. The venue is a bit shit, O2 is nobody’s idea of cool, but without us all heading down to Tempelhof and wrecking the place, I can’t think where else it should be.
