Charlie Parr and Paul Curreri continue the excellent run of shows in the Since The Devil Is Gone I Mostly Feel Lonely series at Monarch. More country blues to warm the cockles on a cold winter’s eve.
Charlie Parr is a country blues musician from Austin, Minnesota. He started his music career in Duluth, Minnesota. His influences include Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Reverend Gary Davis, and Dave Van Ronk. If anything though he is honest blood & guts.
Parr’s music cannot be absorbed in one hearing or even several. There’s just too much far-from-simple human reality going on. The songs take their power from their cumulative effect, which comes in the eventual recognition that chunks of coal mined by genius shine like diamonds.
