Patti Smith is the woman many of you wish was their cool aunt or mother even or maybe just even your cool, older sister. Me? I just wish I’d started listening to her when I was sixteen, would have saved a lot of time catching up.
Having to pay a lot of money to see artists like Patti smith play big places like Tempodrom is a pity but at least everyone can fit in and get drunk in comfort, or get drunk outside first and then fit in and not buy overpriced beer, whichever way you lean I’m sure Patti is cool with it.
Recent album Banga is another vintage slice of Patti Smith, another record which will be heard in the attempts of young bands the world over in years to come…lie all the rest continue to be. If anyone can name a more influential female rock singer I’ll eat my shoe.
