The Kugelbahn Cranky Night is back with two Berlin acts for you adventurous folks willing to journey to Wedding, even though in reality it’s only far away in your imagination. The Kugelbahn shows so far have proved particularly popular for the aftershow entertainment, namely, bowling or, let’s get it right here, kegeln: Nine pin, bowling that’s extremely difficult, so much so that if you actually knock them all down you get a free drink at the bar.
The main attraction, of course, are the live acts, this time My Invisible Friend and Park.
My Invisible Friend has released one EP to date, Hearts And Bodies, on the Mikrokleinstgarten label, home to some promising young german bands and solo artists which started out in 2009 in Dresden and now has its home in Berlin. MIF plays a mixture of post-rock guitar stylings, loops and the occasional electronic flourish from his laptop, interesting stuff indeed and makes for an impressive live show.
Park is the brainchild of David Orth, a Prenzlauer Berg resident and writer of indie-pop gems, click on his name above to hear the excellent A New Sensation. Taking his cue from classic 80s indie-pop bands like Orange Juice, Park’s playful songs and clever songwriting are more than worth a listen.
A late addition to the line-up is AWhere Did Nora Go from Denmark who will get things going with her ethereal voice and cello assault assisted by Henrik Marstal, one of Denmark’s most renowned music producers.
With Where Did Nora Go Astrid Nora is entering a new chapter in her musical journey. She has taken up her childhood instrument, the cello, and so all of her new songs have been written for cello and voice with added ambient electronic sounds. Powerful, beautiful and strong. She has teamed up with the producer-team Henrik Marstal and Kasper Rasmussen and has in this collaboration succeeded in creating an entirely new world of sound and composition
