Laika down in Neuklln’s Emser Str has become a bastion of folkiness in Berlin’s musical life and also happens to be one of the nicest settings in town for a Sunday afternoon of acoustic tunes, remember this show starts at 4pm.
Mute Swimmer (Guy Dale, previously) and Own Road (Simon Skjodt) provide the entertainment. Guy Dale plays more shows than you can keep up with around Berlin, his energetic performances and ability to capture an audience attention has earned him a decent following around town and you really should catch a show of his if you haven’t already.
Of Skjodt I know little so far except I’ve been promised he plays a decent show:
Danish one man project Own Road lies in a twilight borderland between weird and singer/songwriter. The songs use repetition and deceptively simple guitar melodies to conjure up a world that is sometimes anxiety ridden and tense, sometimes gorgeously beautiful. Reminiscent of early Angels of Light mixed with a dark, introspective Tyrannosaurus Rex. Own Road is one of the most promising Danish projects”
Dale and Skjodt play in Berlin again at Intersoup on Tuesday night. Check here for dates.
