Lovelite in Friedrichshain have always been the quiet achievers of the Berlin music scene, not making too much fuss but always putting on ace shows and outrageously rambunctious parties, hosting touring acts and doing their bit to support local bands. This is why when they say they’ve got a festival on, you should really prick up your ears and take notice, since they’re not ones to put together a lineup of anything else other than quiet awesomeness.
Lovelite Festival for this year follows that trend like you’d expect and brings together some of the best party and art bands from around Berlin and beyond. Reverend Shine Snake Oil Co with their Bayou jazz/blues sound make it here from Denmark, Berlin’s very own 17 piece Lord Mouse & The Kalypso Katz will also combine their mighty powers for a set and French chanson act Jou Jou Et Son Grand Orchestre will be getting up to win a few hearts and keep the red wine flowing. French math rock act Jean Jean will be making it down along with semi-French Berliners Ornis with their new trip-hop’esque material and Jagoda will be following up on an ace show at Schokoladen last month with a spot at the festival also. Berlin hiphop MC Badkat will be doing a set along with a bunch of DJs and all the other interesting’ness that Lovelite always seems to effortlessly gather together for you.
