Love Lanes headline the next installment of Cranky Booking‘s monthly Saturday night gig at Antje Oklesund with Crying Room and Susanna Berivan getting the night underway.
There’s not much to say about Love Lanes that their garage-rock stylings doesn’t tell you straight away itself but as 2, Blitzgigs.de head-honcho put it:
The french garage rock column is headed here in Berlin by the Love Lanes kids, they’ve played plenty of full-house shows here and people are really starting to get to know them and their special brand of awesome.
…thanks 2. This four-piece performs their songs variously in french, german and english and have proclaimed themselves the head of the Neue Deutsch-Franzsische Welle which basically means this is the only band you’d want soundtracking your Saturday night.
Here’s Love Lanes with Am Falschen Ort:
Coming back for more Antje stage time is Ned Collette who opened up last month’s show. Crying Room, his new band here in Berlin, will make it’s debut live appearance albeit in this case only as a duo of Ned on guitar and Anthea Caddy, also a Melbourne native, on cello, and judging from the couple of tracks released so far we’re in for a treat here. Collette’s been a busy man lately and May 11th will see the release of his new album with his Melbourne-based band Wirewalker, it’s simply called 2 and is simply great.
To get the whole night started we have Susanna Berivan who has been wowing audiences around Berlin for some time now and as this writer so eloquently put it:
This lady has it all. Style, grace, musical talent, a beautiful voice to fall in love with and a face to match. Her songs vary from dirty C&W style to an almost Billie Holiday-esque style of singing, and is always accompanied by her trusty guitar.
…I think that says it all and can’t be bettered.
Here’s some tracks by both bands including a brand new song, Squall, by Crying Room and live video of the wonderful Berivan below that:
