Johnny Dowd released his first album at the age of 50. His particular brand of country-psych-blues-rock or whatever you wish to call it has earned him a loyal following the world over. Stopping in Berlin with his full band for a two-date stint at King Kong Club seems like they got the venue just right, this down n’ dirty indie boozin joint should provide just the atmosphere for Johnny’s darker, rockier side to shine. Since the appearance of his first album “Wrong side of Memphis”, Dowd has made 9 further studio albums, 4 live albums, numerous collaborations and even a book of poetry. His latest “Wake up the Snakes” shows no signs of the man slowing down. Which all means one thing……….now he can afford even sharper suits!! Yes, this Texan born, Memphis raised man likes to dress up….always. So get your Sunday-best on folks, it’s time to rock!
