Sam Beam better known as Iron & Wine will be preforming on August 18th at Astra. His 2011 release Kiss Each other Clean marks a new approach for Iron & Wine. Gone are the quiet acoustic moments from his previous records. He told Spin magazine that it “sounds like the music people heard in their parent’s car growing up… that early-to-mid-‘70s FM, radio-friendly music”. Although Beam poses this as a significant shift, channeling a second-hand past has always been Iron & Wine’s raison d’tre. Beam, however, has gone a different direction, one that evokes the early 70′s sound of James Taylor and Van Morrison.
