With Evan Thomas Weiss, better known as the one-man-band genius Into it. Over it, every song tells a story. Be it how a skinhead kid punched him (Humboldt), how he received a phone call about a friend being killed (Connecticut Steps), how his ex-best friend is a scumbag for dating his ex-girlfriend (Augusta, GA), how he got drunk and went to his girlfriend’s house promising to do better next time (P R O P E R), how a guy was dumb enough to steal his bike and try and sell it on craigslist (Pilsen), or how a friend asked him to join him at a club and he ended up spending the night drinking alone at the bar (Where your nights often end) to give you but a short glimpse at what to expect from an Into it. Over it. show.
I first met Evan back in December when he was touring with The Swellers. The wonderful people at Ramones Museum decided to book him for one of their free acoustic shows at short notice which was attended by myself and a handful of other people. You can read the review here. I was amazed by Evan’s storytelling and his engagement with the audience so I am very happy that he will play at White Trash tonight which provides a similar intimate atmosphere.
Here’s a video from the show at Ramones Museum.
