Indie.Aner is a booking agency based out of Hamburg hosting a very special club night at Grüner Salon featuring Grey Television, crashcaptains, Bad Tropes (ex Creatures) and Arionce all of which are Berlin based indie bands.
Grey Television are a five piece from Brandenburg, Germany who have made themselves quite a bit of a name in Germany touring with acts such as Maps & Atlases, Foals, and Friendly Fires among others. Their mix of post punk, shoegaze and ambient gives the band a unique sound, a sound that is often but not always melancholic, grey rather than black. Hence the name Grey Television.
Grey Television released their debut EP It’s All Inside Your Head back in 2008. The band have been rather quiet since 2012 but they recently stated on their facebook page that they’ve started working on their debut album.
Crashcaptains is a Berlin band whose jangle pop, and above all the vocals, reminded me a lot of Death Cab For Cutie.
Arionce can be seen all over the city, be it your favourite bar or local subway station, these guys don’t know how to stop.
Bad Tropes (formerly Creatures) are an Australian duo currently living in Berlin where they dotted the line with waitwhat / Motor entertainment. New Campaigns is the title track from their debut EP and will be released on Friday January 9th. The eponymous EP was released in November 2014 when Bad Tropes still used the Moniker Creatures. Apparently, they only just changed their name to Bad Tropes this week, probably for legal reasons.
The title track is arguably the sparsest of Bad Tropes’ stripped down yet powerful debut. New Campaigns is a melancholic and minimalistic pop ballad with a strong lyrical focus. Although the track has been circulating around the internet for over a year, it only now gets a proper release – and it’s about time. Check it out below.
