Ahead of his German tour, singer songwriter Jonathan Kluth is playing an exclusive showcase for séjour (French for living room), a Berlin based monthly living room session for up and coming artists. Videos of the séjour events can afterwards be watched on youtube.
His debut album Ophelia is a musical reflection of Jonathan Kluths personal development as a songwriter, self-contained and energetic. At the age of four he learned to play the violin at his own wish and after a decade of classical music education he traded it in for an electric guitar. He secretly began writing songs and developed his distinctive guitar style, a wild lifestyle, which is as smashing now as it was then, like sparks swirling across the stage. The moderator of the ZDFkultur TV format TV Noir labeled Kluth, not without good reason, “string butcher”.
After studying in Mannheim and numerous tours and concerts with Tina Dico, Matt Corby & Hey Rosetta, among others, the young songwriter managed to create a debut album that reflects the closeness and strength of his live performance as well as his tendency to fancy sound experiments in the heated anonymity of Berlin. It’s not about perfection but about authenticity, on the inside as well as on the outside. The result is a sound that is reminiscent of role models such as Dave Matthews or John Mayer and even Nirvana or Foo Fighters.
