The master of guitar inspired electronic soundscaping Christian Fennesz brings his one-man, melt your heart and your eardrums (but in a nice way) performance to Berghain. Demonstrating that he doesn’t just sit behind the laptop, looking intensely at the screen while ignoring the paying crowd as most laptop electronic artists like to do, Fennesz slings on his guitar and plays you a proper concert because he’s a proper musician. There’s something elegiac about Fennesz’ music that seems to unite electronic purists and guitar band fans alike. I could go on all day about his acclaimed solo records and collaborations but I don’t have the time. They’re all great but if you need to start somewhere do so with Endless summer and Black Sea.
I saw him play at OFF Festival a month ago and bathed in green then red stage lights he also seemed to wish his slot was that little bit longer.
