There’s so much to be said about Electrelane and Vivian Girls I don’t know where to start.
That I went weak at the knees at the very prospect? Certainly. That I fainted? Possibly. One things for sure though, this is going to be one of the best shows of the year, presented to you by Bird On The Wire.
Electrelane left us behind, it seemed, a few years back when they announced they were taking a break from touring and recording and generally from being one of the best bands around. All we had were four great albums, some EPs and all of their singles to get us through to this day…luckily those records are incredible enough for one to survive on a desert island for a decade so we all made it, right?
Yes indeed, anyone who saw these gals at this very venue supported by Liars some years ago might recall one of the best shows they ever saw or maybe it’s gone fuzzy by now. Anyone else?
Here’s some details on the first ladies of rock n’ roll:
Electrelane was formed in 1998 by Emma Gaze and Verity Susman. Bass player Rachel Dalley joined the band in 1999, followed by guitarist Mia Clarke in 2000. Rachel left the band in 2004 and was replaced by bassist Ros Murray.
I wouldn’t want to bore you with details now would I.
Vivian Girls haven’t been around this way for a year now but luckily we’ve had Kickball Katy and La Sera here and The Babies so we’ve had our fix of Brooklyn’s finest, now we get the real deal again with their new album Share The Joy in tow.
It’s an awesome prospect this show and one which could possibly make it into 3’ Top 10 shows of all time…if I kept such a list or could remember who’s at the top or…what was the question again?
Here’s In Berlin from No Shouts, No Calls and Tell The World from the Vivians debut below that:
