For those of you unfamiliar with Neubauten these dudes were the original panel-beaters, the original Industrial band. Nope, they weren’t a dodgy factory band who sang in the canteen at lunchtime, instead they used all manner of “instruments” to create some of the most evocative music of the ’80s and beyond.
Now to celebrate 30 years together as a band they’ve dusted off the various metal sheets, drills, barrels, saws, hammers, the nuts and bolts if you will of their unique Industrial sound and decided to tour Europe and the US. For they are the original Industrial band kids, they made it happen. Mainman Blixa Bargeld was never given to creating the most stereotypically beautiful guitar sounds, as a former member of the Bad Seeds Nick Cave once said of Blixa that “he was never concerned with what I was doing, he was always more concerned with making his guitar sound like a dying horse”. It might not be the most cheerful stuff, given as they are to writing about doom, gloom and the idiot masses but you missed it first time round so here’s your chance to get doom back and see a show the llike of which you’ve never seen before.
Sadly for most of us these two shows have long since sold out. With an unusual starting time of 6pm this second date at Columbia Club was even priced down to 20,50€, nice guys that they are. See you outside then.
