Crystal Stilts bring their version of 80s jangly guitar-pop/60s psych to the Festsaal for a work out on our favourite soundsystem.
Of their recent second album:
This follow-up to their much loved and critically acclaimed debut Alight Of Night continues their foray into spooky 60s psych and 80s dream pop but this time with more flourishes of melody and a bigger, more expansive sound. In Love With Oblivion sets the bar even higher as they reach dizzying, fuzzy heights as first class purveyors of haunting, atmospheric post-punk pop.
If Dum Dum Girls or my beloved Vivian Girls are your kind of thing then Crystal Stilts are for you. Plus, Frankie Rose was in this band…amazingly cos I thought she was in about fourteen other bands aswell including starting off in the Dum Dums and Vivians. It’s safe to say she’s played in almost all the bands that have played in Berlin in the past two years that come from Brooklyn or even thought about coming from Brooklyn for that matter…oh, yes, the rest of the band are awesome too and you shouldn’t miss this show. Ladies, the singer’s tall, handsome and sounds like Ian Curtis and looks like Bob Dylan, just the thing you need to make your ex-boyfriend jealous…
