As if they needed any introduction or words strung together by yours truly, Chokebore are swinging by Marie-Antoinette for what is sure to be a sell-out show. With their new five-track EP Falls Best under their arms it seems these indie heroes are never going to stop…that is, after they seemingly broke up, scared their fans and then came back together on Valentine’s Day 2010…those romantic kids.
Here’s Lawsuit from the new EP. Below that there’s a live performance of Ciao L.A., the video for It Could Ruin Your Day and a video by support band The History Of Colour TV:
Chokebore started in the early 90’s in Honolulu, Hawaii. After tiring of life in the Islands they moved to California and were quickly signed to Amphetamine Reptile Records, the legendary Minneapolis indie label. Across the water in Europe they gained a solid and ultra-loyal fan base while playing with bands like Tocotronic in Germany, Dionysos in France and Girls in Hawaii in Belgium. Back in the USA they toured with bands like The Butthole Surfers, Girls against Boys and did ten shows on Nirvana’s final American tour, including the last time they played in Seattle. Known as one of Kurt Cobain’s favorite bands, Chokebore recorded five albums that are now considered indie masterpieces. Chokebore’s music has been the influence of countless musicians and bands across the USA and Europe. As innovators of post rock, they reached cult status by the late 90s. After their final show in Paris on September 7th 2003, they vowed not to play live again until Valentine’s Day, 2010, where they reunited and brought back the magic. The Chokebore is alive!
