If you ever thought you wanted to like US group A Place To Bury Strangers but always found them to be a bit too fashionable given how desperately morose their music is, you might find related band Ceremony more to your admirably discerning taste.
Made up of 2/3rds Skywave, predecessor act to APTBS, Cermony’s sound features a lot of the downward spiral noise that makes the other two bands work but the whole thing feels less sculpted and not quite as concious of it’s own image. Suggesting that they are somehow more lo-fi than APTBS would be nonsense but it’s a comment that has a micron of sense in it somewhere.
Supporting on the night are German noise psych band The Lost Rivers who are going to be a pretty amazing compliment to the headliners with a set of scuzz-noise psych rock stuff. You’ll find again the same wall of morose noise that characterises Ceremony but in the case of The Lost Rivers you’ll hear at the core a psych band trying desperately to surface for air.
The night’s assembled under the Death Disco banner and is always the case with their parties, DJ’s will feature until very late the next morning.
