The French music scene here in Berlin is getting stronger and stronger with a bunch of bands and venues being easily identifiable as being in that circle, which is completely okay with us since the frenchies do have a knack of knowing what’s good and what’s not.
The french garage rock column is headed here in Berlin by the Love Lanes kids, they’ve played plenty of full-house shows here and people are really starting to get to know them and their special brand of awesome.
Good then that they’re playing a gig at le West Germany with the equally French and equally awesome Bananarchie for a massive Friday night of booze and rock. Not necessarily in that order, but definitely both of them combined somehow.
Bananarchie, although they haven’t played many shows, have plenty of their own pedigree, their singer and main songwriter, Olivier, is also the singer of The Purcells (and part of various other projects), and has written the soundtracks to the two movies “Persepolis” and “Chicken with Plums”. Keyboard player Clementine is an artist and cartoonist herself while their guitarist Rafael is the violinist and theremin player of The Somnambulist.
