Young Kato, a six-piece from Cheltenham, love playing pop – and they have no reservations saying it. There is a lot of 80s influences, with all their synth-guitar combinations and the corresponding big chords. Or as Paul Moss of the BBC said: “The Smiths with attitude!” In early May their debut album Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow was released including the anthemic single Children of the Stars. Having built up a strong live reputation with tours supporting You Me At Six and Rixton along with shows with Charlie Simpson and 5 Seconds of Summer, Young Kato are the latest buzz from the UK.
Nothing But Thieves play melancholic indie pop, influenced by the bombast of Muse, the playfulness of Kasabian, the surprising moments of Arcade Fire, the indie rock of the Foo Fighters, the blues rock of Led Zepplin or rock’n’roll soul by Ray Charles. All members were part of the Southend music scene for a long time which has made them what they are today. Only recently Nothing But Thieves supported Awolnation on their European shows, now they come back for an exclusive show.
