Whether you ever ascribed to the whole “new rave” thing or not, you cant deny that Klaxons have had some great numbers and you cant really blame them too much in any case for getting involved in whatever nonsense NME might have cooked up. After all, NME is always cooking up some similar nonsense and not only does that process (along with endless provocative vox pops from one or another dickhead in Oasis) sell magazines, but also records. If I was a band I’d be begging NME to center a manufactured fad around me, certainly people would some day wake up and realise that “minimalist prog punk” was a load of bollocks, but before then I’ve sold a shit tone of t-shirts and silver shoelaces.
The last few weeks have seen the return of Klaxons with their first single in 4 years There Is No Other Time and accompanying A-Side track Children Of The Sun. Now they announce further details of their hotly anticipated third studio album as well as a run of tour dates for April and May. Of course, there is an exclusive show in Berlin’s Kantine am Berghain that will showcase material from Love Frequency as well as remind fans of the tracks from their debut album Myths of the near Future and follow up Surfing the Void.
The new album, recorded throughout 2013 with Tom Rowlands, Gorgon City, Erol Alkan and James Murphy is entitled Love Frequency and will be released on June 2nd.
