“A beautiful record” – Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio)
“Fingerpicked guitar and hushed, shuffling drums drive the song along whilst Farao’s sweet honey toned vocals brings the bittersweet melancholy.” – TheLineofBestFit.com
“A multi-instrumentalist, Farao is blessed with a gentle, honeyed voice. Able to expand into near orchestral climes, sessions with Mike Lindsay seemed to unlock something special within both artists.” – Clashmusic.com
FARAO gets you into a dreamy melancholic mood that is difficult to shake. No matter if in private or at a gig the gently playful and sometimes orchestral dream folk of this London-based Norwegian just gets to you. In spring 2013 one could observe this phenomenon at her gigs all over Europe, when she played with artists like Boy, Moddi and Karl Hyde. In January this year FARAO called attention to herself in the UK with her track ‘Forces’. Her fragile and mesmerizing voice got ‘Forces’ into several radio stations and blogs in the UK where the song was featured enthusiastically. In February FARAO then recorded more songs in Reykjavik with Mike Lindsay of experimental folk band Tunng. On June 7th the single ‘Skin’ was released in Germany/Switzerland/Austria with Berlin label ‘Trickser’.
