Psych-punk garage-rockers Thee Oh Sees have gone down a heavier, more horror laden path with their new one, Floating Coffin, released in April. Everything from the morose stalk of Minotaur to the grindy bass lines A and stabbing-small-animals guitar clangs of Lupine Dominus. It’s a soundtrack. An ode, to all your favourite 60’s freakout horror movies where LSD parties turn out to be full of vampires preying upon unwitting swingers, the sort of stuff your VHS collection is full of.
Celebrating not only the new album but just good times in general, Thee Oh Sees make it back to Berlin for a big night at the Festsaal. You’re coming right?
Supporting on the night will be Flying Nun alumni Die! Die! Die!, a really excellent noise-punk/indie act coming all the way from New Zealand. Kind of in the same vein as the Mint Chicks, but with an emo thing to the songwriting, more aggressively earnest rather than just being whiny, which is lovely. We hate whiners.
Rounding out the bill and certainly nobody you want to miss, locals Zentralheizung of Death (des Todes). A I’ll admit I’m not sure what to say about these guys since firstly, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them and secondly, everytime you see them its pretty much something new. Life is change. Change is good. Very technical although at the same time letting loose to proper cacophony, think Zappa’s Jazz From Hell goes garage-punk somehow. It’s fun, you’ll like it. Promise.
