Cranky booking continues its midweek series of shows at Antje Öklesund with a Berlin-Melbourne night of psychedelic guitar jams, show tune blues and dreamy synth-pop, it’s going to be a druggy, fun evening, I can feel it.
Dan Kelly headlines this night fresh from a lengthy tour of the US, Canada and the UK so he’s sure to be on fire having played so many shows and word has it he’s developed that difficult knack of tricking you into thinking there’s several people on stage not just one man, his guitar, some pedals and a mic.
Kelly is originally from Queensland in Australia but has been a Melbourne resident for almost 20 years and from there has become one of that country’s best known recording artists. Through his band Dan Kelly and The Alpha Males he received nominations and awards especially for their second album Drowning In The Fountain Of Youth, which featured the single Drunk on Election Night, which was hand picked by Neil Young to be included in his website based Living With War – Songs of The Times in late 2006. His recent touring band, Dan Kelly’s Dream Band, helped him promote his latest album, 2010’s Dan Kelly’s Dream.

James Cruickshank has recently settled into life in Berlin and has already earned himself a reputation with some excellent solo shows around town including his recent appearance with Mick Harvey at Auster Club. His live show is one of the most original and engaging shows you could see, his storytelling between songs draws in any audience and tonight I’m sure you’ll feel you are in the presence of a truly great performer:
