20 years of releasing albums by some of the best bands in recent memory including Yo la Tengo, The Flaming Lips, Lamchop, Calexico, Broken Social Scene, the list goes on and to mark the occasion it’s to Festsaal Kreuzberg we go to celebrate the best record label Berlin will ever have the pleasure of claiming as it’s own.
A slightly trimmed down line-up if I do say so myself considering the 15 years anniversary was at Columbia Hall and with an impressive line-up and the 10 year anniversary line-up most of you just wouldn’t believe to be honest, this anniversary feels like Mr. Slang just couldn’t be bothered. Having said that, City Slang is a great record label so we can’t complain and they can do as they please. I’m sure Jose Gonzalez’ new band Junip is enough for a lot of you out there it’s just that City Slang records hold a prized place in my collection and I’d hoped for a Flaming Lips, Yo la Tengo, Lambchop ho-down of indie-rock-greatness!!!!
Sigh. Memories…….anyway, let’s all go and get wasted and steal merch!!!!!Whoo-hoo!!!
