The Godmother of indie cool herself, Mme. Sadier, has gone solo, releasing her debut album The Trip in September while one of the greatest bands alive, Stereolab, take a break from being the greatest band alive.
Sadier has one of the most immediately recognisable voices in music which is kind of handy in a business based so much on appearances. Album opener “One million year trip” is a slice of typically Stereolab-esque stylings, Sadier lulling one along on her velvety voice despite the darkness lurking at the songs heart. The album is out Sept. 16th on Drag City.
Word has it that there’s new releases on the way from Stereolab too. The pause is over, the groop are back.
