German psych-rockers The Blue Angel Lounge breeze through town again on their current tour to play the Crystal Club. Their second album Narcotica has seen the band take a step forward with their sound. Self-produced with the help of Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre:
it is a more dynamic and atmospheric recording — while staying true to their Velvet Underground inspired colors, the broader, timeless influences of New Wave, Post Punk and Shoegaze are accented throughout . There is a darker psychedelic vein as well as more uptempo tracks to keep a dynamic balance and one which embraces a variety of listeners.
If you’re a fan of The Black Angels and psych-rock in general then this should sort out your Friday night.
Narcotica is available at all half-decent record shops in town or though 8MM and A Records.
Here’s Caught Crow from the record…I’d put up more music but really, after hearing this do you need any more convincing to finally go see these guys?
