Nordlicht Klub launches itself this January with its opening party at Antje Oklesund. It’s the brainchild of Fr Records who begin their second year in business with a bang launching their very own tour which brings new bands from all over Scandinavia to German audiences in both East and West.
Taking two bands and whizzing them around East Germany for three shows in three days it promises to become a hot tip for the coming months with the West German leg set to start up in February. This is the only chance to catch it at Antje Oklesund, however, as it will move to Privat Club who re-open their doors again soon after moving to a new location.
Last October Echo Me’s debut album release show at this very venue was a sold-out, beer-soaked evening of shenanigans…and the weather was great too if I recall correctly which is kind of difficult when you get to my age. So Jesper Madsen and his troupe are back and haven’t stopped touring since October so you’re in for another sterling performance tonight judging on recent reviews.

Foyn Trio is a side project of Live Foyn Friis, a Norwegian jazz singer and songwriter educated at the University of Troms’s Faculty of Fine Arts, The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, and with a Master degree from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus 2009-2011. She is currently studying Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Music(speciale) at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
She has initiated and been a part of many different bands and musical projects, toured nationally and internationally with several different bands, such as Foyn Trio!, Amok, Friis & Co an so on. She has also performed with well-known names such as Erlend Skomsvoll, Troms Symphonic Orchestra, Danmarks Radios Big Band, Klvers Big Band, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Prime Time Orchestra, Marit Sandvik, Bugge Wesseltoft, Jarle Bernhoft, Jan Gunnar Hoff, Jesper Thilo, Uffe Steen and Bobby McFerrin.
She was awarded The Years Young Jazz Composer in Denmark by DR and DPA November 2012.
