A quick listen to Robin Egg Blue below, off McComb’s latest offering Humor Risk, will be enough to convince you that the Roter Salon should be given another chance in your gig-going minds. It’s such a hit and miss venue, can be great or could be disastrously over-crowded and it definitely is over-priced at the bar.
Now if they’d build a higher stage so everyone could enjoy the bands, they’d definitely be more popular down Blitzgigs Boulevard.
But it is Cass McCombs tonight so I suppose it doesn’t matter what you can or cannot see, he’s one of the finest songwriters around, his arrangments are sometimes exquisite beyond belief and calling your latest album Humor Risk is simply genius.
