Noiseklln presents it’s usual mix of the eclectic and the ear shreddingly brilliant at West Germany tonight and also celebrates the release of it’s first tape, nkt-001…surely a collector’s item in the near future.
Headlining on the night is Justice Yeldham of whom Wire magazine had this to say:
the most exciting performer I have seen in the last three years – in fact, since I first saw Iggy Pop
…so I’m sure that has piqued your interest, I know it did mine. It gets better:
Ecstatically Abela purses his lips against amplified glass whilst deftly employing various vocal techniques ranging from throat singing to raspberries turning the discarded shards into crude musical instruments, resulting is a wild array of cacophonous noise that is strangely controlled and oddly musical. The instrument’s simple, original and effective premise is a welcome riposte to over complicated musical performances of modern times. A one of a kind act re-defining the expression ‘don’t try this at home’ this show quite simply needs to be witnessed to be fully appreciated, let alone understood.
…phew, so there you have it and here he is:
Along for the ride are Noiseklln regular Moonwheel, Ill Winds, Anna Vo and Peter Newman. Here’s a nice on from Ill Winds called Following and down below a Moonwheel track set to a snippet of Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession:
