Ned Collette and Susanna Berivan seem to be inseparable at the moment, playing on the same bills all over town so why should Madame Claude on a Friday be denied the same pleasure.
Ned Collette is no stranger to a lot of people, Berlin resident a couple of years now, his regular Monday night shows at Valentin Stberl have become a real treat in recent times with some great guests playing before Collette’s usually captivating performances. His Melbourne-based band, Ned Collette + Wirewalker have just released a new album, and as he’s off soon to tour down-under it could be one of the last chances to catch him live this summer in Berlin. He also recently joined the experimental-folk trio, Crying Room, as guitarist, their live debut was only last week so expect to hear more of them in the future too.
Susanna Berivan, a born and bred Kreuzberger, is playing the best shows she’s ever played at the moment and that’s not just my opinion, anyone who has seen her play recently is simply stunned at her performances. Her style defies categorisation; it’s a mix of blues, country, folk, jazz, you name it, and coupled with her songwriting it makes for an enchanting show. Her song Yellow Moon, written after a winter night in the snow when the moon was huge and yellow is a knock-out. Listen out for Susanna’s distinctive trumpet playing…without a trumpet.
