Me And My Drummer celebrate the release of their debut album, The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey tonight at Lido with support from And The Golden Choir.
Charlotte Brandi and Matze Prllochs have been making waves over the past six months with their minimal sound and big ideas, touring with Einar Stray and generally wowing audiences all over Germany on the back of their excellent debut single You’re A Runner. The album was recorded with Tobias Siefert, the brains behind And The Golden Choir, at his Radio Buellebrueck Studio here in Berlin.
Scaling back to essentials does not mean giving anything up – as long as what is left or even laid bare is what truly matters. ME AND MY DRUMMER have really pushed this act of reduction. It’s hardly a band you are watching here, it’s two confidants in close contact. Ever-changing, they are a loving couple, they separate, they circle each other in the boxing ring and in the ballroom. Her’s is an incredible voice, singing for her dear life, making requests and demands, challenging you, dreaming and floating on a dense musical ride, picking up speed and gaining momentum.
