Calgary band Women are not a happy band. They are not a band for happy moments. They are not songs for singing about happy things. They sound as though they might like to be one day, happy that is, but the fact that they’ve taken the sounds of so many childhood summers, AM radios with the Beach Boys and assorted hippy psych pop, and tranformed it into a bad-brown-acid dirge, is what makes me say again, Women are not a happy band.
