One of the greatest pop bands in the world, Gorillaz make it here to Berlin supporting the Plastic Beach release.
UPDATE: Moved from 17th November to 21 November 7:30pm.
The story when they first formed was that they were the ultimate pop band since they were utterly manufactured and completely sold out right from the point of conception.
Which is as easily as cynical as it is awesome, especially if you’re anything of the nerd that I am and share in any way the small crush I’ve always had on Noodle (Rule 34 here).
But, things seem to have progressed since those entirely non-humble beginnings, with the transformation into the collective format (bound together by the core members) that you’re familiar with today. Along with this maturation, the music has of course followed, with the bedroom dancey pop numbers of the first album evolving into the big band jams of the newest stuff.
The albums are worth a Sunday afternoon listen, incidentally, just as the concert here in Berlin is worth getting along to, if you can scrape the money together.
Here’s a live recording from them, Gorillaz live in Harlem performing Demon Days in it’s entirety…
