We’re not too often into hiphop, but when we are it’s always awesome stuff.
Berlin art & music collective PlayBerlin put together a night of independent hiphop headlined by Sha3 Palaces, the latest act assembled by Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, the former member of the 90s Jazz-Hip-Hop combo Digable Planets and african percussionist Tendai Maraire. Coming together like a harkback to the darker end of Tricky’s solo stuff in the nineties, this is hiphop without the bells, whistles and bullshit, just solid beats and inspired vox.
Supporting on the night is London MC & producer Infinite Livez. Influenced by diverse sources such as P-Funk, Surrealism and continental philosophy, his second album Art Brut fe de Yoot has been recognised by critics as a unique achievement in both experimental Hip Hop and whacky humour.
