German born but American bred, Reginald Lucien Frank Roger Watts aka Reggie Watts is a melding of cultures. Getting up on stage he’s got the American soul and sure footedly smart mouth, that much is sure, but to see him in action there’s also this weird awkwardness that screams ‘don’t look at me’ all the while compelling people to look even more. It’s like watching a mildly drunk European who’s found himself at the center of a party dancefloor and everyone’s made a circle around him and they’re clapping and egging him on to bust a move but he’s kind of just stopped still while he debates with himself whether he should do the Bat-dance or that routine he saw on the Partridge Family that one time.

Even aside from the outsider-music element, Reggie is undoubtedly one astoundingly talented dude. Epic beatboxer, comedian and free-form spoken word and performance artist, a regular guest of Conan O’Brien and author of the massive viral internet hit What About Blowjobs?, he’s got a foul mouth but a good heart, proving once and for all that even if you’re a little bit awkward you can still be otherwise amazing.
