An amazing and really quite different lineup at the Knochenbox with three acts coming together with three different styles, but the whole thing somehow gelling really nicely.
Headlining is Banque Allemande, Berlin post-punks doing an ace thing where it’s technical but completely gutteral at the same time. Think Big Black but with more of a clockwork engine feel about the whole thing.Banque Allemande are one of those Berlin bands who love playing in unusual places, train carriages and the such, but they don’t play very often now so it’s a rare chance to catch one of the best art punk acts in the city.
Co-headlining, from Des Ark who’ve been touring Europe for the last while, Aime Argote will be doing a solo show, her only one in Germany. People compare her to Patti Smith, but that’s being a bit simplistic. Argote’s sexually driven lyrics put her in a seperate box from Smith and Cat Power, another comparee. The space where Argote resides is one that most people can relate to pretty strongly in one way or another, she knows you very well even though you might not have met.
Opening up the night, also doing her solo thing, Mika Risiko out of Berlin post-punk act SISSTERS steps up with a brand new sound. Somehow fusing Talking Heads with Nine Inch Nails and turning the whole thing into an awesome 80′s glam odysee, it’s violent and erotic but also at the same time kind of introverted and tender.
A really interesting and wild mix.
