As is the way with these guys, the brand new album WIXIW (pronounced Wish You) is almost a total abandonment of their previous sounds, normally a mistake but somehow LIARS always seem to make it work. And when we say work, we mean amazing.
Gone headlong into dark-dream electronica, the anger from previous albums is removed in place of brooding, that or either the hate is suppressed somehow that it’s relegated to the listener’s subconscious. A subterfuge such as that fitting for a band called LIARS, probably. The end product kind of brushes on 90′s dub electronica, probably closest to B-sides from Leftfield minus the British trip-hop element.
Playing here in Berlin with a show at Roter Salon, tickets are still available, but will be sure to be gone by the time of the gig. Seriously, this is a hot ticket from a band with a seriously hot new album.
